Asia and Europe dominate list of world’s top 10 airports
Skytrax has released its list of the world’s best airports, and facilities in Asia and Europe make up nine of the top 10. (Vancouver International Airport, one of my favourites, is the only North American spot on the list.)
Almost 13 million travellers from 110 countries voted in this year’s competition, rating airports on 39 criteria ranging from check-in procedures to shopping.
Here are the top 10:
- Singapore Changi Airport
- Incheon International Airport
- Munich Airport
- Hong Kong International Airport
- Amsterdam Schiphol Airport
- Tokyo International Airport Haneda
- Beijing Capital International Airport
- Zurich Airport
- Vancouver International Airport
- London Heathrow Airport
I’m happy to see Schiphol here–not only did our bags make it to the carousel before we did, but the airport also has an awesome train terminal in the basement where you can catch a ride to just about any major spot in the Netherlands, as well as destinations in Belgium and Germany. And Vancouver is hands-down one of the most beautiful terminals in the world. Any airport that gives pride of place to artworks like Bill Reid’s The Spirit of Haida Gwaii rocks in my book.
Which airports would you nominate as the best? Let me know in the comments!
